The Haiti School Project is a small dedicated group of individuals committed to improving the quality of life in Haiti starting with educating the children of the country. Our mission is to support a sustained investment in education that will promote economic development and improve the quality of life in Haiti
Haiti: Hands On was started in 2012 by two High School freshmen, Lamia Makkar and Tasneem Zarroug, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. For the last four years, we have been fundraising and working with the Terre Froide community on building a school, developing a trash system and introducing solar lighting to the area
Britney Gengel was a beautiful, fearless, and compassionate 19 year-old when she decided to travel with her college, Lynn University, to the country of Haiti. Upon arrival, Britney was overwhelmed by the devastating poverty visible everywhere, but the love she received from the children she met, despite their conditions, inspired her to send the following text to her mother:
“They love us so much and everyone is so happy. They love what they have and they work so hard to get nowhere, yet they are all so appreciative. I want to move here and start an orphanage myself.”
Shortly after sending this text message, the catastrophic 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti. Brit’s family could not let her die in vain, and so in her loving memory, The Be Like Brit Foundation, Inc. was started. Over the course of the following two years, a 19,000 square foot earthquake proof orphanage was built in Grand Goâve, the town where Brit was supposed to have traveled the day after the earthquake

Haitian Roots helps to fulfill the needs of the future generation of Haitians, running a primary school for children. We educate nearly 300 children in Haiti. Through our sponsorships program and fundraising we provide education and careers to both children and educators. The board of Haitian Roots is committed to fighting against the atrocities that are happening to the youth of Haiti. The organization will give the children of this nation an alternative to the path of poverty they are currently embarked upon.
Hope for Haiti works to improve the quality of life for the Haitian people, particularly children, through education, nutrition, and healthcare.
